What a limestone step is
Each tread is a single block of limestone with a sawn bottom so it sits flat. You choose a natural top, which keeps the weathered quarry surface and hides wear, or a sawn top, which is flat and uniform for a modern look.
Lengths: 3–6' (ask about longer)
Colors: Gray Horizon or Cathedral Ledge, a lighter cream-toned limestone

How many steps do you need?
Measure the total rise, from the lower landing to the upper one, in inches. Divide by the step rise.
- Example: 42" of total rise ÷ 6" steps = 7 steps
If it doesn't divide evenly, talk it through with your installer before you order. Check your local code for any step that's part of a required path to a door.
Choosing lengths
Step length sets the width of the path. Pick the length that fits the walk or the opening, and tell us the number of steps and the length of each. Steps are priced by length, the same across every style, and we quote the set with freight.
Steps with milled walls
Steps pair well with 12" Milled with Sawn Ends. In those walls, stair ends and exposed ends are finished with a natural end so no sawn end shows.
Shipping and unloading
Each tread is one solid stone and is heavy. Weights depend on length and are listed on the load sheet. Steps ship on pallets; unload with forks. A full load is about 24 tons, and small step orders can ride a shared or short load. Ask what lengths are on hand.
Quick answers
Natural top or sawn top?
Natural top keeps the weathered quarry surface and hides wear; sawn top is flat and uniform. Both have a sawn bottom so the step sits true.
How many steps fit on a truck?
It depends on the lengths in the order. A full load is about 24 tons, and we count the pieces for your mix when we quote.
